Honestly I think a lot of people suspected Joel would die. I did when the first teaser showed up.

This game is less subverting expectations and moreso throwing in stuff people don't want to see.

I don't think people have a problem about what happened, it's HOW it happened is what people are pissed off about.

Its not even how it happened, its more that they force you to play as Abby before and after in some dimwitted attempt to get you to see it from her point of view.

Hence why I said "throwing in things people don't want to see (in a game)."

Granted, the only things I got spoiled about were that, and the infamous sex scene. I'd rather not spoil any more for myself and just enjoy the game.
