Like, where it's a box and you attach it to a monitor?

Google gives me results for how to install Android ON a PC and how to emulate Android on a PC, and one of those whatchamasticks you put in an HDMI port to turn your screen into a smart TV but I'm looking for, like, an Android NUC or something.

I mean, Android is basically just Linux without privileges anyway, what's the point of purposefully limiting your PC's functions...

The apps. Can I just install Ubuntu and the Google Play store and have all the apps work correctly?

Not really. Most desktop Linux run GNU or some version of it. Android is a non-GNU implementation. This is one of the reasons Richard Stallman was always an ornery butt about it before Android was even a thing and it turns out he was right after all.

TC if you want an Android NUC just get an Nvidia shield TV. It supports side loading as well.

You could use stuff like Anbox for that, but I haven't done anything like that myself so can't say much about performance, etc, but I imagine there won't be many issues

Samsung Dex is built into Galaxy phones if you're just looking for something temporary. You just plug it into the TV with an HDMI to USB-C cable.

Linux. A Debian derivative. May be possible to install Android. I'm getting some hits for that.
