And the side-quests are therefore more fleshed out, because they're something the devs expect you to do; they are integral and tangent to the main quest.

Straight out of the tutorial dungeon, OOPS! You need 20,000 gold to proceed. Go explore the town and see what side-quests are available. Then we'll talk about letting you save the world or whatever.

Marked for spoilers /s

I really wish I could get into this game, but I just find it hard. I'm not good playing with mouse and keyboard, or reading a bunch of stats of gear, or managing my units in real-time

Sounds like a fun way to soft-lock yourself.

Use up all the sidequests then spend all the gold on dumb stuff. >_>

It's a D&D game, I'm sure there is still a way out. Steal shit, maybe? Sneak out? Kill who is telling you that you need the money? No idea, never got that far, lol

Inventory management is the most frustrating part. Your characters' inventories fill up rather quickly, and the dated system makes it difficult to trade items among your party. There have been times where I put off continuing the game for MONTHS because I needed to manage my inventory, and it's just so damn bothersome.

Once I finally get around to doing that, I'm finally like "Oh yeah, this is why I started playing this game."

Nothing has to be done in real time. In fact, that is discouraged. The combat style is called "real time WITH PAUSE" for a reason.

Gets a little better once you have a Bag of Holding.

Usually cheat one of those on me right away.

You modding?

No, I know how the combat is. I guess that wasn't really the correct way to tell you. I want it more like Original Sin 2, where it really is turn-based, but you can do real-time stuff if your other units are not in combat yet to do the fun, sneak attack stuff and setting up traps or combos

I recommend doing it even if only for some fixpacks.

I just got done doing a run through as a Shadow Weave Acolyte.

Someone made a whole different school of magic, so you pick your spells from a different list.

Truth is I'm playing through the BG series so that I can appreciate DOS2 more whenever I start it up again. I never got past the island at the beginning of the game.

Baldur's Gate III is gonna play more like DOS2.

Made by the same guys instead of Beamdog.
