I was at a friend's house and she put the episode where Sailor Moon was trying to lose weight and there was this evil man who wanted to steal the life force of girls by tricking them into thinking it was a form of diet

I loved it and now I'm watching on Hulu

I got introduced to anime through the original Vic dub of Sailor Moon

Nephlyte's final episode was at the time the most emotional thing I ever saw in a cartoon. I used to think Sailor Moon was so "deep"

Jedite FTW

Always liked Malachite because he reminded me of Magus and Rune.

The first couple seasons of Sailor Moon and the Saiyan/Namek sagas of DBZ obliterate my soul with nostalgia. They were my favorite things to watch right before my whole life went to shit as a kid.

So bittersweet.. :(

I loved his face turn at the end.

Sailor Moon does deal with far deeper themes than other media generally aimed at kids. For me it awakened my inner romantic as a young lad of 9 or 10.

The amount of times Moonlight Densetsu is sung at drinking parties after work is pretty large. It's not every single time like Cruel Angel's Thesis, but it's a staple.

I've heard that you can start playing Cruel Angel Thesis in a random park and a bunch of people will start singing along.

I don't know about that per se. But I hear it often enough out and about. Pachinko parlors certainly play it a lot (and have a ton of Eva stuff to try to lure you in). At obon matsuri last year it was played along with more traditional songs as one of the songs to dance too. That was really fun actually. They had the taiko drums going along with it too (it's also a song on Taiko no Tatsujin). As far as I know it has been the most popular song on karaoke every year since it has been released, so for literal decades. That's the easiest way to find it if you go to karaoke, just select popular and it's at or near the top.
