It's pretty good. Really dug the aesthetic plus it's a Platinum action game. Gameplay REALLY kicks in on the third mission.

It's pretty alright, makes me feel like I don't know how to play games tho. Didn't feel like I had that much trouble dodging stuff in Nier, but that game didn't give me letter grades I guess

The dodge is a lot stricter in Astral Chain. You can unlock a kind of counter move after dodging perfectly, but it's easier to unlock the legion summon parry since the window for it is not as strict. Also the letter grades are a bit weird here, as they more grade you depending on your variety of moves. You can get an S+ rank and still take craptons of damage/use health items as long as you're varied in your combat.

Male. Does the game differ, depending on the gender?

Also, I'm going into this game pretty much blind, didn't even hear about it until a week ago and thought "eh why not?" So I have no idea what to expect.

Nothings changes besides Akira being the gender you didn't pick and what BGM plays during certain parts of the story.

Man, some of these puzzles I have no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to do.

Like what am I expected to do with these three floating cubes? Some hints would be nice!

I feel like it'd be handholdy to give hints too often >_> You just need to keep in mind all of the abilities available to you at any given time. You need the Sword Legion there.

There's a few gameplay things that the game never explicitly tells you about. For example when you unchain your legion you can swap to another one while the first one's doing its attacks. Make sure to get all the crowd control/stunning skills on your legions as well.

Still havent beaten it lol but it's fun. Game starts out kinda boring and slow because it limits your combat heavily but opens up around the 6 hour mark probably.

I had to use the Sword Legion's slash ability to hit all three cubes at once...WHICH I WAS DOING. I tried like a dozen times so I thought it was the wrong thing to do, but then suddenly it worked. I think a small hint to confirm I was on the right track would have been okay? @_@

I enjoyed it and put in 120 hours. I think it was a 8/10

The game definitely needed some 6-8 month polish, and the story is not good.

Combat is rough at the beginning, but once you hit File 03 it opens immensely. I honestly hope the put stuff from this game to Bayo 3.

I love the soundtrack, like the aesthetic.

I wouldn't go in expecting Bayo 1 or 2, just a enjoyable gsme

Yeah, Sword's kinda weird on those. Once I get Arrow Legion I just use its slow-mo aiming and it gets the job done much better.
