ok so I looked. says he was trying to seduce a minor. I guess that sounds bad without knowing any other details. but yes, not saying THIS guy is innocent, but a large number of people on the registry are for bullshit reasons. like peeing in an alleyway. I still remember in WA state I think it was, someone went on a rampage hunting people on the registry. they thought they were The Punisher. one of the guys they killed was only on the registry because he was caught with his at the time same age as him girlfriend, having sex in their high school like behind a dumpster or something. he got put on the register for "public sex". then like 10 or more years went by and he was married and living a normal life and he got murdered just cause his name was on the registry and the killer said he was "cleaning up trash"

when it first happened a crowd formed outside his widow's house and mocked her and threw shit at the house and was being totally assholes. the very millisecond news hit that the victim had not actually been a real sex offender, everyone fled and never apologized or anything. that story has always stuck with me
