2.6k new cases in half a day. New record for the 3rd day in a row and more than a thousand more cases than the next highest state. It's the new epicenter in America.

"Floridas Department of Health on Saturday morning reported a new daily record high of 2,581 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 surpassing the previous high by 679. The previous high was hit on Friday. And the high before that was hit on Thursday.
That puts the states total number of confirmed cases at 73,552 since the pandemic began in March.
Forty-eight new deaths were also announced, raising the statewide death toll to 2,925. Perhaps more alarmingly, intensive care hospitalizations rose by 168."

"The state slowly began to reopen in May. Now in June, most businesses across the state are open at limited capacity with social-distancing regulations in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
A Miami Herald analysis of public and non-public COVID-19 data found that as of June 3, new cases in the state had consistently been trending up since mid-May and the trends could not be attributed to increases in testing, which had been inconsistent and sometimes declining during that period.
And as bars, gyms, vacation rentals and movie theaters reopened at partial capacity last week in all but three South Florida counties, the number and rate of new COVID-19 cases were rising statewide a very troubling indicator that the disease could be spreading more quickly. Over the past seven days, Florida's rate of new covid-19 cases are by far the most in the country, with North Carolina recording slightly more than half of the sunshine state."

2. Florida is significantly underreporting their numbers. They were caught doing it, a health department worker blew the whistle on it and was promptly fired.

No matter what direction you look at, one thing is for sure - Florida is fucked for the time being.

I think this "spike" is from more testing. And media just using the "new record" or surge to fear monger. If you test more numbers are going to go up. They had 48 deaths. Each death horrible but maybe I am desensitized. Other states had 800-1k deaths a day. So 48 not something that freaks me out. Or even 2.6k cases.

So are we here in Arizona. Most our hospitals are at or near capacity. I drove passed a popular bar last night and it was PACKED. Also, a lot of the "it's a hoax, masks are for libs" people are here in the state, so yeah, it's gonna get bad.

Read the actual news article from the Miami Herald. I put it in quote blocks. It's already been proven it's not from more testing.

Not much of it can be attributed to more testing. As stated in the article, Florida's testing has been inconsistent and has actually declined on many days. It's a massive new outbreak that is causing the surge in numbers.

I can confirm this. My girlfriend has a group of friends that went down there twice within the past month and a few of them actually believe that's it's not real because their neighbor who is a nurse says that she hasn't dealt with it at all.

I work in a hospital and we have been testing a bunch of people. Pretty much anybody who gets surgery is tested first and people who leave to go to rehab or nursing home gets tested twice before they leave.

I guess this is an alternate universe where literal riots didn't happen for two straight weeks. Thank God because think of how nonsensical it would be if people safely trying to run a business were the evil people while people looting and destroying businesses were the good guys.

cali has more than them tho? yesterday cali had 3600 new cases compared to 2100 in florida. they have 2900 new cases today so 300 more than florida.

at least new york and new jersey are both under 1k new cases a day michigan where i live has been under 300 most days the last couple weeks. so us being the last to open did some good and helps that we're not a big tourist destination like florida or cali. they're about to close down the beaches again.

Protesting might have sped it up in the larger urban areas of those states but nobody was doing BLM marches in shitty beach towns that were getting flooded with people from out of state, and yet it's flaring up at an impressive rate there

Any graph on the number of COVID deaths per day stays almost flat when compared to the rise in new cases, and has actually been trending downward for the past 4 weeks at minimum. This INCLUDES the "rush to reopen" states you won't stop whining about as a front for wanting to stay home, not work, and get those Trump bucks.




So you can stop the charade and your meltdown, you have lost all leverage in this discussion. What you should do instead is take your entire last post and read it in the mirror.
