Even though he always skips past the text in the games that he plays.

I always tell him that he needs to actually read what the characters in the games are saying since they often give hints, but he hasn't really taken that advice. If this continues if/when he does get BotW, then he's going to be in for a bad time.

If he doesn't care about reading then he's probably going to be able to still have fun just exploring and stumbling around aimlessly.

Pretty sad that he's too lazy to put in the effort. I remember lecturing my brother at about the same age on the same subject and, as predictable as the sunrise, the advice was immediately disregarded.

And playing the game involves reading. And many of us posting here were playing games at 8 and had no problem reading text as part of that experience.
