I'll give this the green light since I know laptops are insanely expensive and you're deadset on a laptop.
The RAM and memory are both low but if you're willing to work around that you'll be fine.
Will run most games at some level of quality.
I boycott laptops in general, though. If you're not strapped on time I recommend buying at the end of the year, closer to the release of next-gen graphics cards. They'll have a ton of these things that they need to sell like hotcakes but for some reason -- which they will swear isn't greed, totally -- will barely lower the prices compared to how badly they want to get rid of them because they will be told by their managers that it's better to destroy merchandise this year so they can sell more next year than give steep discounts this year and sell less next year. Don't feed the big evil greedy capitalist machine. Best wishes.

I'm wanting to go laptop because I don't really have any desktop space. Plus my comfy chair is a lot better than a computer chair on my back.

If you can spend $50 more you get a better graphics card and processor.

If you have some time you can compare and see which you like better, otherwise r/laptopdeals can net you some good suggestions.

with gaming laptops, you'll likely plug them in most of the time anyway though, and you'll still get decent hours with regular browsing. Look into how loud the laptops are when running in regular hrs vs gaming, thermals, etc if you care about that stuff.

Sorry I know I'm saying a lot.

It's all good. I need the information before sinking money into something that sounds good to me but ends up being a rock. I'm trying to get one sooner since my hp is telling me I have disk errors and freezing on the disk check. Everything I've found tells me to look into something newer and backup what I can before it finally shits the bed. Told my wife that if I'm gonna get something newer I want one that I can finally run some shit on my steam. Let the kid dick around with the HP till it's finally had enough. Most he does is youtube and roblox anyway.

Came across this one. Still in the same price range but has a 1TB HDD on top of an SSD. I know it's an acer an all but it's actually looking better than that hp

That Acer's ram is upgradable to 32 gig. Which I probably would do just because I hate being caught without enough ram.

Overall praise with some fair criticism.

But solid Notebook overall.
