Its definitely weird how a site with so much racism doesnt make an attempt to have a diverse set of moderators. The whole we want good moderators, not black moderators is the same line of reasoning that many companies used for years until they realized they didnt actually understand diverse problems in the ways that those with hands on experience would. Like I dont think there should be any exact quotas but its weird the very idea is always handwaved away.

It's really not that hard to stand. If a sizable amount of minorities utilize a service like this, it only makes sense to committ to diversity. They're being so hostile about it is telling. Error literally is accusing me of calling him a racist for even talking about this

You're ignoring the disparity in severity and frequency of punishment against anyone who speaks out against the clear anti-black sentiment on this site compared to those who perpetrate it. Anyone who would have an interest in filling that role and the knowledge/experience to navigate these issues has likely already been disqualified by proving as much, and that's saying nothing at all of the already tall order of becoming a mod.

Coming from a black mod, I've never questioned the mod team's commitment to handling violations pertaining to race and prejudice. There really isn't much more perspective that we could give to help handle those marks any more efficiently, which is why the diversity of the mod team isn't as big an issue as some folks are making it out to be. 99% of the racial marks I see are clear cut violations that anyone with decent judgement would remove, no matter what race they are.

While having a diverse moderator staff would be ideal, I'm not sure what is the ideal way of doing that? Do you want people to include their race, gender, etc. on the application? Should GameFAQs then ask for evidence of what you claimed? While this is obviously a volunteer position and not an actual job, most application best practices widely discourage asking demographic information from applicants.

I mean is there a discussion even being attempted here? Right now it is more accusations that GameFAQs can't tell you how their diverse their moderator staff is. Which they can't because that information isn't asked. A practice with aligns with the EEOC's recommendations.

I agree with FrisbeeDude in that a site where racism is against the ToU should have people that are frequent targets of that racism in a position to do something about it.

But at the end of the day it still comes down to Allen. You could have all the diversity in the world on the mod staff but if Allen is still of the mindset that endless Purgatory cycles work (when it clearly doesn't at any level you could deem a success) then it doesn't matter.

There's no sense in wasting your time applying if you know you're going to be rejected. We've already had tons of people leave in protest and the only thing that's happened over the years is that Allen's relaxed the rules, which has only brought in more of the wrong type of users.

Also why are you pushing this as if it would have resulted in someone like The Admiral being banned quicker than he was? It wouldn't.
