But why? Rape would still illegal regardless so if guys arent arent putting on dresses to sneak into womans spaces to rape them now why would it skyrocket then?

Plus statistically most rapes involve people that know one another so why this is being portrayed as such a likelyhood is beyond me.

The bathroom issue has always been so incredibly stupid. How would that even be enforced? Have someone checking peoples' genitals when they go into the bathroom?

I said this before this story came out and I'll say it again.
I can't defend what she's said. But, I will defend why she's saying it.

She thinks that cis women and trans women do not have a shared history of abuse. They have had different struggles and different experiences through life. It sounds like she has her own issues with abuse throughout her life and she thinks that trans women cannot relate in the same way. She feels that by equating cis and trans women it diminishes from her experiences of pain.

She clearly cannot understand the experience of being trans, but she still wants to support trans people through their own struggles.

In one of her tweet she said

Id march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans.

And then in replies to that, people gave dozens of examples and she responded by saying they weren't actually discriminatory acts.

She doesn't support trans women at all.

How's she racist? I've never read any of her books nor do I plan to. The only issue of bigotry I know of is the trolls/goblins(?) that were bankers in one of the movies and were like a Jewish stereotype.

Ive never seen this before...With that type of statistic, it wouldnt be far fetched to think some sort of trauma is what pushes people to become trans. Which then begs the questionis it tied to mental illness?

Its mostly casual, ignorant racism based in offensive tropes and stereotypes, like the Jewish one you mentioned. Others are like making the only Irish character obsessed with blowing things up and the only Asian character named Cho Chang.

The Jewish population of the UK is like 0.6% and only children between what ages? 12-18? Go to Hogwarts.

Only about 10% of the population is in that age group. So that's about 0.06% of the UK population are Jewish and that age.

There are only 1,000 students across Hogwarts across 7 years.

So each year approx 143 new students arrive.

Someone else can do the math but what the odds of people from 0.06% of the population being in that 143 group?

There really would only be 1 or 2 Jewish kids at that school unless for some reason Jewish people are more likely to be magic.

Same goes for Chinese. 0.5% of the population so 0.05% approx age group population. There really mathmatically would only be a couple unless magic is based on race or religion.

In fact this is generous because Harry Potter is set in the 90s and I'm using 2020 figures. The Chinese and Jewish population would be considerably lower 25 years ago.

I think it's more that Cho is typically a Korean surname while Chang is Chinese. So by combining them nonchalantly, it might look like Rowling didn't give much thought to the character and Cho was created simply for the sake of diversity.
