In the UK anyway.

Although i think there's a big difference between 'blackface' and dressing up as a black character.

Is this going too far? They're really missing the point, surely?

We're supposed to be standing up against systemic racism and unlawful murder? What has comedy (or the attempt of comedy) have to do with anything.

I get why, the comedy by today's standards isn't funny anymore. It's just that, the balance of focus is screwed up. There is all of this focus on removing old comedy, like even Jimmy Fallon's Chris Rock impersonation with blackface from an SNL skit 20 years ago, and not enough focus on the actual issues at hand involving police brutality and systemic racism.

As should always be said, there's a world of difference between a guy doing blackface to mock black people and a guy doing blackface to mock white people doing blackface.

Not mentioned here, but I've seen it mentioned almost every time the subject comes up, but people that get mad at Tropic Thunder are completely missing the blatant point there.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

No one really gets mad at Tropic Thunder. Its usually brought up by people who for some reason defend blackface as a "THIS COULDN'T HAPPEN TODAY HURR" type of thing....It can and does. Context is important.

Same with Blazing Saddles. It's on Hulu, and is one of the most popular movies on it. People still know the difference between satire making fun of racists and actual racist depictions. Hell, Django Unchained even had funny scenes that are incredibly similar to stuff you would see in Blazing Saddles.
