Finally working out the details to start monetizing videos of myself but I dont know much about the technical side. So whats like a baseline easy and inexpensive camera I can? And what editing app is best on a Chromebook?

These days, your cell phone camera is probably enough. Most phones record at least in HD.

No need to spend more money than is necessary.
Thats hard as hell to set up though. I guess its cheaper to get hardware to hold it than a new camera though. Hmmmm...

why is a cell phone camera hard to set up as opposed to an actual camera?

Dunno what your definition of inexpensive is or what you plan on recording but I was gonna recommend this one

This is why Im specifically looking for one thats good for recording myself rather than just a good camera.

Definitely not trying to drop $300 but I do really appreciate the effort.

Depends on what you're doing but the Panasonic G7 is a popular "vlogging" camera for cheap.

You can probably get it for a lot cheaper used with kit lens for around $300. Buy once cry once. Plus the M43 ecosystem is pretty cheap so if you get into videography or whatever more lens purchases would be affordable compared to their full frame equivalents.

But again, depends on how you're gonna use it. A nice camera is always a good investment tho. G7 seems like the "industry standard" for vlogging. I don't vlog but I have the cooler older brother Panasonic G85 and it's great.
