Regardless of if you did or didn't support the protest, were you pro-cop?

How did you feel at the start and how do you feel now?

Before the first riots, I would've said that I was at best casually pro-cop and I slowly grew more and more dissuaded, seeing all the abuses of law.

but after those Austin PD Officers straight committed war crimes, the police can *probably something that will get me suspended*

As someone who personally knows several police officers with wives, kids and families, I still am pro cop. AND pro black-lives matter (imagine that).

Maybe none of the good cops I know were able to do anything about an incident happening hundreds of miles away in a city they've never visited. Some of you act as if every officer in the nation knows each other or something.

Its more the whole gang mentality that allows them to open fire on fucking medics and not immediately get taken down by their own that pisses us off

I am pro cop, and pro police reform. Too many under trained people with no communications skills, pushed out the door with a badge and a gun.

I have a friend who's been going to college for 3 years to join the police force. You have to meet very high acedemic requirements to be a cop in Canada.

I just flatly don't judge people by their profession. Just like every other job in the world, there are good ones and bad ones.

I judge people based on their actions, not their uniform. Since I work night shift at just about the only store that's open 24/7 in my area, I see all the local cops stopping in for coffee and snacks just about every night. I've had several conversations with them all about what's been going on, and every single one of them has agreed that what that shitbag Chauvin did to George Floyd was disgusting and inexcusable.

I also know that they're scared shitless by the protests going on. There was one in our area last weekend, and one of the officers that stopped in the night before told me he was just glad it was his day off, and that he would be turning off his phone so they couldn't call him in because he didn't want to be anywhere near there if things went south. Said he didn't want to end up in a situation where he'd have to choose between ending up in the hospital or hurting the protesters he agreed with. :-/

I am pro cop and anti rioting. But I don't support the bad cops, which thankfully is not the majority of them.

The 4th one. I know a few good officers but at the same time understand the issues with the system and how badly they need corrected.

Can't say I'm anti-cop though.

Also, I'd like to add that pro-cop doesn't mean I ever supported anything they've done, just that I know some good ones. Obviously my mindset has completely changed.

Why would a hand full of bad cops make me anti cop? Theyre not all part of some cohesive gang. Cant be anti NFL because Aaron Hernandez killed someone.

Same for me. I am pro cop and pro black lives matter. I live in a small town and know many of the cops in my area. They are all good cops who help keep my town safe. I'm not going to turn against all cops just because there are some bad cops. Now I'm supposed to turn against the same cops who've been keeping my town safe all these years? Not gonna happen

Neither, I guess?

Ive never really dealt with cops before so I honestly dont have much opinion of them either way.

Which I guess makes me a piece of shit? I dunno.

Theres obviously some awful cops out there, but Im sure theres great cops too. I dont like the idea of lumping them all together. I base each individual person on their own rather than what group theyre a part of.

Its less about turning against your own cops and more just losing faith in the entire system.

The Austin Police Chief should've immediately fired and charged every officer involved in that medic shooting. But he has no fucking balls to hold his own accountable. How can I have faith that the cops around me are going to do good when they commit war crimes and seemingly get away scot free?
