many many years ago for unlawful approach of an emergency vehicle

The cop had a truck pulled over on the shoulder. I changed lanes to go around but I guess he didnt like how tight and how fast the lane change was?

I haven't driven in 10 plus years. Back then the last time I got pulled over was because it was so cold driving home from work that my headlights didn't come on, and I had the luck of having a cop notice. I got home and turned my brights on and back off then my normal beams worked. I didn't get a ticket though.

I have had a cop stop me on my bike coming home at night and ask me where I was going. One may have saved my life once. I was riding home on a cold winter night with about 6 inches of snow on the ground. As I got to the crossing I started feeling weird and my eyes started to blink out. Luckily a cop saw me and checked on me, which got me straightened up to make it the rest of the way.

I've only been pulled over 3 times. Once back in 2006, another in 2010 and the other in 2013.

I've only been pulled over when I've had black friends (2010) or my black girlfriend (in 2010 and 2013) in the car with me. Didn't get a ticket for any of the stops.

Look up the area you live in. If its a high crime area and youre driving a beater down at night. Youre more likely to get pulled over

Theyre more likely an enforcement squad then. Which is usually a squad of officers that do only proactivity, stopping people and cars, especially in hotspot crime areas

2009

I was on the way home from work, doing about 70 in a 55 because I had to take a huge shit.

When the office walked up, I said "Sir, i know I was speeding. I need to get home before I shit my pants. Whatever you're gonna do, please make it quick". He laughed and wrote me a ticket.

Speeding, About 2-3 years ago.

I was asked last minute to drop some paperwork off to my mother's attorney's associate who was leaving town the next day.

It was late, I was rushing and speeding about 15+ over the limit. Got nailed, but the officer knocked it down to 10 over which reduced the ticket bigtime.

Still had to pay 120-140 something, plus had to spend another 10-20 for an online course to save the points on my license. Then found out it was rigged to make you sit at the PC for a set amount of time because it had randomly timed pop up security questions to make you sit there like a dunce. Spent something like 3 or 4 hours doing that, could've passed it in about 20 minutes. (Didn't have a lap top or tablet at the time to go do something else while I waited).

Ain't it fun how cops will pull you over for shit like that just to see if they can find anything else to bust you on.

My last time being pulled over was for the same thing, probably like a year or so ago.

The day pokemon Sun and Moon came out. Went to a midnight release, pulled right up to the Gamestop and my car's lights are automatic so they were shining right in the store so I shut them off manually. I left when I got the game and the roads near me are very well lit so I never noticed I was driving home with my lights off and the cop caught me lol. He was really cool tho, looked at my license and shit and let me go with a warning. He was probably looking for drunks to arrest lol.

I don't drive. But usually when someone is pulled over and Im in the car, they come to the window and ask me for my ID and shit. I thought that was normal but was told later on it wasn't. But it's been like 5 years since even that happened.

Is that normal tho? Cause these would just be traffic stops that had nothing to do about us being suspicious in any way. So it would make since that only the driver would be the one talked to.

Passengers aren't required to have any interaction with the police or show ID. The officer is only supposed to deal with the driver and the only reason they'll ask passengers for ID or anyone for that matter is to have an opportunity to run their names for outstanding warrants.

I have a story regarding this, to date still by far the worst police interaction I've ever had. I was in college, think this was around 2009 or so. It was night time, and I was REALLY drunk. My roommate didn't drink but didn't care that I did. He offered to go get some food so I went along with him. His car was kinda old and one of his taillights were out. Well a campus police officer pulled us over. My roommate got out of the car and he's talking to the officer. I was watching then talk from the passenger side, just minding my own business. All of a sudden I hear loud tapping on the window next to me which scared the shit out of me, it turns out its some buddy cop and he asks me to get out of the car. I asked him what for, I wasn't even driving or doing anything. He told me "just step out of the car". Whatever, I didn't want to escalate it any further.

Now mind you, I'm pretty drunk and now I'm scared shitless, so its hard to keep my balance so I was leaning on the car to stay standing and not fall over. Cop kept telling me not to do that but of course it's hard to do when I feel like I'm gonna fall without using the car as support. He asks me if I was on any drugs which I said no I've just been drinking, but I'm 21 (I showed him my license) and not driving and there's no alcohol in the car so there should be no issue right?

No. Cop tells me to turn around and then starts searching my fucking pockets and everything. This prompts the other cop to start searching the car. This went on for like 10 minutes while they searched every nook and cranny for somethijg that wasn't there. During this time like 3 other cop cars came to join the scene.

After a long search with nothing to show for it, they finally just let us go and told us "btw your tail light is out" and then rolled away. I've never felt more violated in my life after that bullshit encounter.

thats not entirely true. It depends on your state, if you have pc to stop that vehicle that person has to st least verbally identify themselves. You can also have anyone step out of the car as well(Maryland v Wilson)

2/27/17

I was on my way to work in morning when my sister called me and said our mom had a stroke. She was being taken by ambulance to a local hospital, then by helicopter to the nearest neuro ward in Fargo, ND. It's a drive that's little over an hour.

I get to the hospital in Fargo and got to see my mom. She was conscious and speaking. She told me she would be ok, not to worry, and that I should go back to work. I listen, got in my car and started driving down the street.

After I few blocks I noticed flashing lights in my rearview. I panic a little, I was so shaken up by the events that morning I forgot what to do. And this was first time I'd ever been pulled over in a busy city, and there were no shoulders or space to pull over off the street. I look in the rearview, make eye contact with the officer, and just kinda threw my hands up. The office understood and motioned for me to keep driving until we found a turn lane for me to stop in.

Now I'm Native American and I'm used to being treated poorly by the police, even back home on the reservation. Not to mention that the Standing Rock protests were very recent and I'd heard very bad things about Natives being pulled over in ND during those times. I wasn't sure what I had done, but I was prepared for the worst.

The first thing the officer asked me was "is everything ok?" He didn't have the typical stiff robotic tone officers adopt. I could sense genuine concern. I told him about my mom. He asked how she was. He explained that I ran a red light, but he understood why I might not have my wits about me. He told me to find a place to stop, grab a bite to eat, regain my composure, and drive home safely. No ticket, no warning, even told me not worry about showing him my proof of insurance when I offered. And that was the last time I was pulled over, and it was the first time I'd ever had a positive experience with the police.
