Other countries, yeah it's normal to lock down, impose curfews, safety of the society first and foremost over the individual.

But America not so much

its weird to me in this context. "ok, you guys can go outside and cause a ruckus during the day but not after the sun goes down!"...

Curfews on anyone over 18 should be illegal. Its just a loop hole the government has another way to say they can force people to stay indoors

It's nothing new for me, the homeless shelter I used to stay at had a 7PM curfew.

If you weren't inside the building by that time, you got locked out for the night, with increasing infractions ranging from a week to permanent.

Yeah America is so crazy about the freedom thing that it seems so weird that such a thing could and would be imposed. I bet there are so many of those midwest and other heartland type americans that are like "this is unamerican!" and would riot over such a thing.

Although I'm not sure if this has existed before in america's 200 year history? Like maybe the mccarthy era (which reportedly is the reason "in god we trust" is on the dollar bill?) or during any of the cold war?

I also want to point out that just a week ago people were protesting SUGGESTIONS to stay inside. they weren't threatening to arrest people who didn't self quarantine, yet people protested because "MUH RIGHTS"...do you think those same people will do the same here? in this case they actually are arresting people. I'm expecting a lot of "just follow the law, simple as that!" from that crowd.

You really think so? Maybe I've seen too many movies but it seems like people would do the "citizen's militia" thing. What with, you know, the gun craze thing and all.

The virus lockdown was (and is still active in most cities) way more restrictive than curfews lol

texas - or at least a number of cities therein - has, or at least had curfews for minors for years

if i'm not mistaken though, the curfews introduced since the rioting began are little different from the coronavirus curfews

Not if you live in a hurricane state.
We have curfews every time a big one hits.

That's simply not true. Why lie like this like we don't also live on this same planet? I could still walk around here in a city that had one of the strictest and longest lockdowns. I did it just two days ago, I walked around the city at midnight, with my mask off. I could still shop, eat outside, sit on the grass, jog, do whatever I wanted other than dine in at a restauraunt. Meanwhile, I couldn't step foot outside my apartment after 7pm without worrying about getting my head busted last night.

Why don't you compare the text of your city's shelter in place and that of the curfew. Both probably only allow travel for essential activities and travel to/from work.

I remember the curfew North Carolina had after Hurricane Fran. Curfews aren't new.
