My car has a locking glovebox that has a shelf in it, that looks like it could easily hold my conceal carry along with a couple spare mags. My job prohibits firearms in the building while on the clock, but not the parking lot right next to it, where I normally park. Obviously not ideal to trust both the door locks and the glovebox lock to secure a firearm, but if rioting begins to trickle down into my area I'm fucking getting into my car and going straight home.
Smaller riots have popped up around a friend's workplace already, and he alongside his roomates are getting pretty scared. --- 4/15/1951 - 3/18/2014 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Do you honestly want someone to steal it from your car while you are in work?

Do you honestly want someone to steal it from your car while you are in work? I park in such a way that I can see my car from the entrance, and like I said the moment any rioting sparks in my town, I'm out. I'll follow emergency procedures to get my staff out, and lock the building up. I've never up to this point, ever considered needing to keep a firearm in my car for safety before, just simple transport, which is why I'm hesitant to go about it. Obviously the best course would be for me to just keep it on my person, but my job is clear on those guidelines, and it'd be impossible to conceal it while on shift. --- 4/15/1951 - 3/18/2014 ... Is it possible to purchase something to secure it properly inside your car, in case it is broken into? Personally, as someone who has never owned a gun the idea of leaving one in a car is slightly frightening.
You should do whatever you think is best, of course. --- Mugwump Fluid ... Copied to Clipboard!

Why don't you keep the mag with you concealed in your work bag, and leave the actual unloaded and chambered firearm in the glove box? Then just load and arm yourself when you get in your car to leave.

Personally, as someone who has never owned a gun the idea of leaving one in a car is slightly frightening. That's my concern too. I usually follow state laws when transporting firearms(unloaded, in the trunk, in cases with locks on them), and when I do carry my concealed, it always stays on my person, in a holster. This case is different since I'd like to have my conceal carry on me on my way to and from work now, as things have clearly taken a turn. I do have a low profile key lock safe that could fit under my seat, but it's the same thing either way if my car is broken into. AbbotWhite posted... That way at the very least if my car locks or windows are broken, all it is now is a hunk of plastic and steel. --- 4/15/1951 - 3/18/2014 ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm not saying you have no right to be scared, I'm saying the gun will intensify that fear.

unless you live in a really remote area iv never liked the thought of a truck gun, especially during a riot where the chances of it getting stolen are substantially higher. id rather just upgrade my carry gun which should always be on you anyway.

And if he's in a situation where he needs it and doesnt have it...?? Yeah well if someone is coming at him slowly enough that he can get to his glovebox but life-threateningly enough that he needs to brandish a gun then it's a great security option ... Copied to Clipboard!
