What will be bigger in history books, COVID-19 or May 2020 riots?

Covid-19 has already changed the lives of many people forever with adults losing their jobs while Gen-Z has their high school graduation cancelled and are kicked off college campuses. But now cities all across America are lashing out at the police state, and I have to imagine the views of young people watching this will be shaped by this event one way or another. Overall, what will be more influential?

Covid is still a world-wide pandemic that we don't know how it will shake out.

We'll just have to see where all of this is going.

Covid will be bigger in the economic history books.

Depending on if these riots crest the weekend and head into June, will depend on if they're bigger than covid in the history books.

Honestly some historian will probably make a link between the virus and the protests. Something along the lines of "due to historic unemployment and economic unrest, tens of thousands of disaffected Americans took to the streets in a protest sparked by one man"

Covid is gonna hit half a million deaths worldwide this year fairly easily. I think that will be more significant than riots unless those take a massive turn for the worst.

Not to downplay the deaths, but theres a million and one reasons these protests are happening in the capacity they are happening at and when they're happening.

If they grow into June, you can make a legitimate case as to why they'd be bigger than covid in the history books

Coronavirus. Sadly, racial violence has become so commonplace, no one makes a big deal about it for long anymore.

Covid. It's likely a large reason why the protests and riots are taking off.

It's a factor, not really a large reason for protests. I disagree with this point.

No they haven't. The damage from loss of life and unemployment are incalculable. Property damage is nothing compared to either of those two.

It will be covid and for one simple reason, America never changes. How often is there protests and riots due to a black man being murdered? How often does a pandemic cost over 100,000 American lives? Both should be rare occurrences, sadly only one is.
