TMZ has reported that 43 y/o Derek Chauvin is now on SUICIDE WATCH as the officer charged with the murder of George Floyd is being checked on every FIFTEEN MINUTES!!

Cops are round the clock checking on his cell after the officer was charged with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter who is under constant surveillance and in isolation in St. Paul, Minnesota

He remains in a single cell in a part of a facility set aside for high profile cases

TMZ says that the former officer didn't even make eye contact with anyone when he was brought into a jail cell and that he was subject to an unclothed body search as he was then placed in a prison uniform and led into a cell. He has not spoken a word on his arrest and if he has any remorse for his actions.

Checks on the cell every 15 minutes are said to be common but it is not confirmed if there is a threat to his life other than officers are checking on him constantly

He will sit there for 23 hours a day with one hour for recreation and has access to books, pencils and paper

His bail is set at 500,000 as protests are still erupting into Day 5 where riots and destroyed property and businesses are still happening across America as justice for George Floyd is still occurring where protests demand the other 3 officers to be charged but have not yet.

His ex-wife, Kellie has already filed for divorce and asked for an immediate dissolution and does not want to speak to the media on their relationship and ask for her and her family and friends for their privacy.

A medical examiner who examined Floyd's body claims that he did not die from asyphixia and strangulation and that a combination of the arrest and Floyd's medical history is what lead to his death. An independent pathologist has been hired by the Floyd family to do their own examination

If he has true remorse then thats good but he should still be punished just as hard, he murdered someone

Edit: I don't believe he is remorseful, just upset and scared that his life is over, which he deserves

Being suicidal doesnt necessarily mean he regrets his actions. It could be he just really doesnt want to deal with the consequences.

This. If he's convicted, he'll be sent to prison. Cops in prison don't do well, particularly when a significant portion of the prison population is black and he'd be in there for killing a black guy.
