It's possible to say that the looting and violence is bad, bad I think it's a bit short sighted to let instances of violence obscure what the real meaning of the protests are about. Or at least, I don't think it should diminish it. And it sucks that there are some people who are going to refuse to take it seriously because they seen x amount of violence. I don't know man. When large crowds of people gather, shit happens and it becomes hard to control.
