Police in South Carolina are investigating a horrifying incident after a removal of a 12 foot alligator from a mini golf course when 30 rednecks were seen dragging the alligator out and then SITTING on it!!

The gator was crawling around the course at Hilton Head Island but photos and videos online showed the animal being mistreated after it was caught

Town Manager, Steven Riley apologizes for the egregious and unacceptable behaviour of the trashy residents

Tensions were high as protesters took to the streets upset at how the gator was treated

Riley says "As a town, we advocate for the protection of wildlife and the natural resources of the environment we live in. It is unfortunate that people at the scene chose to make a spectacle of this situation and behaviour in a manner completely contary to the core values and beliefs we, as island residents, hold dear"

The male alligator eventually had to be EUTHANIZED but not before 30 people started RIDING the reptile and even STANDING on it. One picture whos an extremely OBESE MAN sitting on the gator as people mocked the gator before killing it

Joey Maffo from Critter Management said people started gathering around the gator as his team attempted to capture the gator which was 80-100 years old

After securing the reptiles limbs, people started laughing at the animal and sitting on it as it was tied up.

Maffo admitted he was in the photos and said "That was actually me. As soon as i taped the gator, i thought it was a good opportunity to get people to understand how big and powerful it was and to have some fun"

Although large gators removed from places where people normally gather are usually killed, the photos outraged people who saw it as abuse

Maffo, a 19 y/o said "They're just tourists. We had no intentions of making it look like a fiasco"

The protest titled "Respect Our Wildlife" held signst hat said "Let them live, Let them Cross. This will begin awareness and then we will attend a town hall meeting and begin to bring this up until we are heard. This is no way to treat our wildlife and we need to make changes"

I thought the topic title said "Crossing" instead of "Cruelty"

In a daze because it's still early, I was thinking about how my daughter hits all the other animals with nets, slingshots etc and even after I read it right thought maybe this topic would be about Animal cruelty in animal crossing

I feel less bad about killing an animal that attacks humans that ended up in people territory but still, they out of just killed it right away if they were going to instead of torturing it.

I am confused about the abuse, besides one or two people sitting on it I dont see the problem. Sounds like the Alligator was being removed by professionals and there just happened to be a lot of tourists around watching.

The first guy to lay across it was a pretty skinny dude and just wanted to demonstrate it's power.

They had to tie it up so it wouldnt hurt anyone

Which is also kinda fucked up. But if that's the case, they could have waited and posted with the dead gator instead of abusing it.
