-south becomes its own country
-south eventually falls apart within 20 years tops because they cant sustain themselves on their own
-north invades and wins easily
-country is whole again but jim crow never exists
-racist southern wouldbe politicians are in jail or never hold positions in the south
-racism in the country never gets out of control, maybe even gone completely by 2020

so did we actually lose the civil war by winning? just curious

How much longer would they have slaves if they won? No way the international community would tolerate it. They'd basically be a pariah state like North Korea.

the south was able to survive with racist politicians in power because they were receiving funding from the stronger north that excelled after the industrial revolution

if the south had failed the north eventually would have invaded after the south provoked them and racists would never gain power in the south

meaning we wouldnt even have most of these racist laws and institutionalized racism that plagues this whole country today

HBO was going to have a show about the USA and the CSA existing side by side since the civil war as separate nations, set in the modern day. But too many people made assumptions about what the show would be about or how it would depict slavery. and it got canceled. sucks. I wanted to see it. I love alternate history stories

The North didn't fuck up by winning the war, it fucked up by allowing Andrew Johnson to royally botch Reconstruction
