Pretty sure he was from Canada. He moved to Thailand, got married, and last I remember was teaching English in China. I don't think I've seen a post from him since this whole Covid thing started. His screen name might have been MuyThai or something like that-I could be thinking of the screen name for someone else though

It's not like he's ever been concerned about anyone but himself anyways, truly a garbage individual.

Also there's ridiculously good odds his wife was you know what when they met but that's all I'm saying on that.

I mean, I don't begrudge the guy for trying to get back to Canada during a pandemic, and if he and his wife and kid self-isolated for the two weeks than it's all good.

However, I disagree with his political leanings and hope he's ready to admit to being a shithead when he called out our government, but ultimately came crying back in the end.

The embassy rushed my wife a temporary residence visa in under 48 hours. We got home on the 13th of April and then did our 2 weeks of quarantine. I'm currently waiting for my former boss to send my pay stubs from 2019 to finish my wife's permanent residency application. Even with applying for an open work permit at the same time, it's going to take months before she is able to work.

The precautions forced to take upon leaving Thailand to get back to Canada (including mandatory quarantine) are far stricter than anything we are seeing in North America. You're more likely to get the virus at a family BBQ or Walmart than you were getting infected/infecting anyone via international travel in the middle of April.

Trudeau is still trash. Sure, he may have handled the covid situation better than many world leaders, still doesn't change the rest of his politics. He's spineless when it comes to China. That Huawei chick is living a life of luxury while Trudeau does nothing to try and get 2 citizens who are kept in horrid conditions by the CCP.

Never once talked about how great China was. I said my city was nice but always stated it was nothing but a means to an end. If I could have found a job paying as much and with as many benefits in Thailand or even Canada as I did in China, I wouldn't have went to China. Always been vocal on this board about the CCP. So much so that people kept saying to be careful because of the government possibly seeing it.

As for moving back, it isn't just to do with health care (though the Thai private health care system is quite good but it is expensive). It's to do with the fact that Canada isn't full of tens of millions of people who literally live day to day. The Thai government did nothing for their citizens and a lot people were out of work over night. A lot of those people can't afford to miss a single day of work, let alone months. If the virus gets completely out of hand globally, poorer countries are obviously going to collapse sooner and you'd be an idiot to want to stay if there was another option.

Oh yes please explain to me what the Canadian Government is supposed to do to get China to release two guys who legitimately did look like they were spying (whether they actually were or not is irrelevant), that doesn't involve Canada violating their legal agreements with the United States? Canada literally has no power otherwise and there's zero chance our legal system would ever allow Meng to be locked in a jail cell indefinitely.

There is no evidence of them spying whatsoever. The one dude was literally a glorified travel agent. There are things he could have done, including tariffs. This isn't the first time China has arrested Canadian citizens in retaliation (the Garratt's for example).

Let us not ignore blatant corruption in regards to SNC-Lavalin either.

And the people the CIA used to administer a sham Hepatitis B vaccination program in Abbottabad in an effort to find bin Laden/his family were only health care workers, until they weren't.

Again, whether they are actually spies or not is irrelevant, it all comes down to the appearance of being spies, and because Governments have changed spying tactics over the years, these guys could absolutely be spies. Like, "glorified travel agent" is a hell of a casual term for a guy that personally knows Kim Jong-un and has been involved in multiple projects with NK's government. If there was a Chinese citizen in any kind of similar role in the US/Canada it would 100% be assumed they were a spy.

(And I want to be clear here - I do not think they are/were spies, but to completely ignore that two people in their positions could be indicates nothing else but a serious misunderstanding of the situation).

And LMFAO @ any tariff suggestion. That literally hurts us far more than it could ever hurt them, because at this point in time we literally need them and will continue to need them for the foreseeable future, but they don't need us.

And a Conservative/Scheer government would have done the exact same thing with SNC-Lavalin, to pretend otherwise is fucking laughable.

Thanks. I can't wait until she experiences -40C for the first time. Going to be hilarious. Going to be nice to see my daughter get to play in actual snow for the first time (it snowed last year in China but it was light and didn't stay down long).
