It probably wasn't the first episode. Might not have even been the first season. I just caught it on Nickelodeon once.

I just couldn't get over how weird it was that every single thing was fire this, water that, to the point that instead of, like, "Charburnia" or something, it was literally just "The Fire Nation." Which I know is kind of a weird complaint but eh.

^ it's just basically, in that world, most people have an affinity for an element (air, earth, fire, and water), and bending is a way of manipulating that element.

and each nation's populace has its own leaning towards one of the elements, and that's why you hear so much about fire bending or the Fire Nation, for example.
