Yeah, I feel like I need to incentivize getting them right more or maybe just lessen the penalty for getting them wrong, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I looked at them the first time and thought it wouldn't be worth it, so I didn't pick in them both times.

I haven't checked if I simply got more matches right or that just paid off a lot, but I'm guessing it's a mix of the two.

I'm having fun here. The writeups are good stuff.

I agree that the incentive to pick free for all matches is incredibly low if you're shooting to actually rack up points, though.

I think the best way to do the free for alls would be you have to have the correct winner to get any points, but for every placement you get wrong you lose 25 points. So if a person has the correct winner but is wrong on the other three placements they still walk away with 25 points. And maybe if they get all of them correct they get the 100 points for the correct winner and an extra 50 points per placement. So a total of 250 points for guessing all 4.
