Never understood why it's so common, especially in Europe and Asia, but also everywhere else.
But I have slight ocd tendencies and prefer not to open a public bathroom door with my just-washed hands. I think pull inward doors are idiotic because it defeats the purpose of handwashing... --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Pull inward works better than pull outwards for restrooms because you can push with your shoulder on the way in and pull with a paper towel on your way out.
They definitely need an uncovered trash can by the door though. And they need covered trash cans literally nowhere. I mean I don't know if cheap public bathroom soap even actually cleans but I just use it for peace of mind.

Also if you're not making every single thing in your public restroom touch-free just don't even bother building a restroom.

Actually I was told it's "better" for safety reasons, in that when you open the door inward you won't accidentally hit someone as opposed to a door that pushes out. Not sure I agree with their explanation but fine, whatevs. I already do the "open with paper towel" thing as well and have also always thought that it's better to have the trash can near the door so I can throw it immediately after using it to open the door. But at the same time, like 80% of places don't have paper towels anymore due to it being wasteful and 100% of bathrooms in Europe don't have paper towels anymore. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I wash 100% of the time if I'm in a public bathroom. Sometimes I don't if I'm just taking a piss at home.

For me it's never been about "oh I didn't touch anything so I don't need to wash" it's just about "well I might as well apply soap and water and just wash since you never know." You never know.

Do you wash your hands only AFTER going? I work with school computers, including old desktops. They are dusty as hell, so I'm not going to touch my wang without washing my hands first. Then I wash again after I finish.
