It's unsustainable
What's unsustainable is a system where millions of people can't make enough money to live on and a system that would rather risk human lives than corporate bottom lines.

People don't even have enough to cover a $400 emergency, that's just sad. People need to learn to budget.

We dont need people going from making $400 a week to making $1,000 a week. They'll never go back to work

400 a week isn't enough to live on. You must live with your parents if you think that.

400 a week in a cheaper state with a roommate or spouse is enough to live on. It wont be luxurious though

If you live in New York or California it's not.

People who make 400/week typically can't afford to move to a different state.

There's no way to budget your way out of having $20 unspent at the end of a month after paying bills and necessities. People simply do not have enough money.

Also here's a fun fact, the amount of money spent on the CARES Act amounts to $18,000 per person, and yet you only get $1200.

I was talking about people who don't live in an expensive state

Ok, I'll adjust my numbers. People making 800 a week now making 1,000 wont want to go back, either

800 a week after tax is quite a bit, depending on where you live. Mostly engineering, programming or other white-collar jobs that can be done remotely, and less replaceable. Very few people I know making that much have even been at risk due to the pandemic.

That's none of your business, but it is quite a bit higher than 400.

Its took me $0 to move out of Cali by becoming a trucker. You can too. Or join the military. Or form a coalition of friends and acquaintances and move out. There are options, you just dont want to get uncomfortable

Edit: I know many illegals that come here with nothing. Many dont even speak english.

You should probably shut up then since you don't understand the struggle they are facing. I make less on furlough than I did employed including the 600, but I still have empathy for people struggling during a pandemic.

Meanwhile you want people to put their lives and their families lives at risk just to get Trump reelected. Absolutely trash opinion.

Is that the unemployment amount people get in those places?

Either way, those people should consider moving to a cheaper place instead of praying they'll finally make it big or win the lottery.

Many Americans are moving to red states for that reason. Sometimes you got to do the responsible thing and get out of expensive areas.

youre aware that cheaper places dont have any jobs right? and the few jobs that they have available pay pennies

theres a reason the cost of living is cheap in those places

This. The hardest hit industries have been hospitality (Including restaurants and bars) and retail

its the people who were already poor and struggling who are out of work and need this. The people making $800 a week by and large kept their jobs and moved to wfh
