I'd be more annoyed about how limiting the job system license boards turned out to be compared to the original but the seitengrat bow makes up for almost every flaw the game has, it's just such a power beast.

People say Vaan and Penelo are useless to the story, but I'm just now noticing how the game actually forces Vaan to be in the spotlight, and moments where I'd prefer to hear from Basch and Balthier, go entirely to Vaan. It's not that I dislike him as much as others do, even with his painted on abs and ridiculous Victoria Beckham face. I just prefer Basch and Balthier and they should be at the forefront of the story along with Ashe I guess, though I'm still indifferent towards Ashe.

The Archadian Empire scenes are where the real interesting political intrigue themes come up. A story of betrayal and death and brothers fighting against each other to seize the throne, that's so cool and very medieval. I'm actually more interested in that and am surprised they didn't have Larsa be a main party member and switched out one of the others. There's a lot they could have done with judges but I don't remember if they ever did.

One thing I will say is that the judges's armor design and uniform are probably where nomura got the idea for his kingdom hearts armor back in birth by sleep and so on:

its usually half on during the big steam and greenmangaming sales. i've seen it at like 18 bucks on the latter.

I picked up this one from steam when it was on sale like a month ago. Square-Enix games don't go on 50%+ sales often and usually hover around retail prices for a long time.

They do a lot more than something like nintendo at least.

I'm playing it on ps4, but it's the best time to play it now because they released an update where you could change your job any time you want and as much as you want. I can't even imagine being stuck with the first job you chose because I kept changing jobs over and over, unsure what to pick.

Heck I'm still not 100% happy with my job choices but got tired of constantly resetting gambits and license points so I'm just gonna stick with them until the end of the game or until a superboss requires a change. I didn't do most marks the first time around and this time I want to do them all, especially super marks.

The job system is superior in every sense. Even with just one job, having 2.5k or more hp by the time you reach where you're at is easily achieved, and the buffs to each jobs license board makes it so you actually have everyone be competent in any role.

It's not limiting at all. Hell, the original was more limiting in that everyone had the same equip options... And not enough copies to go around. One genji set, etc. At least in the zodiac age where you can use any 2 jobs, it makes it so you then can optimize so each of the 3 party members you front line with have really great synergy in skill and equipment combinations without fear of overlap.

Plus you actually end up stronger compared to vanilla and that's not even an exaggeration.

I remember FFXII being okay but disappointing for a Final Fantasy game.

That era of FFX-2, FFXI, FFXII, Spirits Within, Dirge of Cerberus is where Final Fantasy really began it's decline IMO

I like the gameplay. But man, I hate when FF storyline goes too political. Their political and school stories always bore the fuck out of me. Leave it to the Persona series to do a much better job there.
