Which AC Socket do you use on a day to day basis?

Considering how fractured our global electricity standards are on a per country basis, which AC Socket / Electrical standard do you deal with regularly?

Do you have any thoughts on AC Socket Types from the various country's?

I've always like "Type K", it reminds me of a smiley face.

"Type I" always reminded me of the Serial Killer's mask from the "Scream" franchise.

"Type H" always gave me a 'Angsty Vibe / Face'.

"Type A/B" reminds me of the clouds from classic 2D mario games.

For those who have used the "Type C - EuroPlug", is it really that convenient when traveling around the world / Europe?

It's the one plug that's nearly universal from my research.

It's rated for 2.5 A @ 220-240 V ~= 550-625 Watts

Voltage will vary by country of course.

How is "G" objectively better?

Explain yourself.

cause I'd argue K would be the best one.

Japan is with the US on 'Type A/B', but at slightly lower voltage.

China uses 'Type I', the one that I think looks like the Serial Killer mask from the "Scream" franchise.

It's an earlier standard, before the advent of a "Ground Pin".

It's similar to 'Type-C' in it's universality though.

Depends on the implementation and where it's plugged into. I still prefer B over A for obvious safety reasons.

Unfortunately, only the Brits use it.

I love how your 'Type I' resembles the Serial Killer's mask from the "Scream" movie franchise.

It sucks that everyone doesnt move to the same one though. I would be fine with downgrading to a type B plug if it meant i could import stuff from the US and not have to worry about the charger.

I know USB-C is universal but that USB-C needs to draw power from somewhere that is not universal, and its only 100W max if the standards are followed (although Dell does go up to 130W but thats still low, cant run a microwave off it for example).

Type A, most Type B stuff in Japan needs a converter. Instead the ground here is literally a wire that you shove into a hole called Earth if your socket has one. But most people just don't even bother. I think my microwave is the only thing I bothered grounding.

I have a bunch of them in my house and at work. Almost entirely sure it's only due to importing. What we do is use a surge strip that has B coming into it and an A with that free wire I talked about coming out of it. At work we always put the free wire from A in the ground because it's policy, but at home it's like whatever.

But if you do that now, Australia's power standards will be in chaos because Australia is on 'Type I' along with New Zealand & China.

Well, there's ALOT of cost to change.

Honestly, it would be easier if you went the British route.

You wouldn't have to do any "Voltage Conversion".

And you already love the "British Plug".

Why not get the colonies to re-unite on at least one standard, the "Type-G" plug that you love so much.

Get away from China's standard plug.
