what are your thoughts on this? my thought is if he was killed in the commission of a crime so be it, but he was supposedly just standing in his driveway, and killed him just because he thought he might offend again, on the surface this seems like a vigilante killing, but who knows, I only hope the law does a thorough investigation and does the right thing in the end, whatever that is

The sex offender registry needs to change. You're not a sex offender if they catch you pissing in public. That's stupid.
But yeah, if he was not doing anything you shouldn't have the power to do that, just like the recent arbury thing. --- "I know how the business works because I'm a wrestling fan"-hulkhogan1 ... Copied to Clipboard!

The justice system needs drastic changes, because shit like this is outrageous. The man raped two children and served two years. Two years. People get caught with marijuana and can serve 20, meanwhile its legal in multiple states.
There is something horribly wrong with this, and if I have a neighbor that served 2 years for raping 2 kids, if he has the urge to do it again, 1 year is hardly something preventing him from doing it. If he served 30, it would be an entirely different situation. Punishment for crimes is supposed to prevent you from doing it, or from doing it again. --- Ten million dollars on a losing campaign, Twenty million starving and writhing in pain. I don't feel bad for the child molester dying, but I also don't think we should have clearly unstable people carrying out vigilante justice and murdering folks. Everything I've read about this case basically makes him sound like he's got really bad ptsd from working with abused kids and it sounds like he finally snapped

If either one was his kid, I'd say fair as long as he's willing to do the time. If not, then can't really back a random vigilante action. Though if the guy only did serve two years, then we need major reform on that end. Plea deals shouldn't benefit monsters that much.

The system is to blame. Dude shouldn't have even been a free man which would have resulted in him not getting killed. At least not as a free man. Probably would have gotten murdered in prison.

I don't get how you can rape a child and only get two years. That right there upsets me more than anything that has happened. Don't get me wrong you can't just go and execute someone, but our system is the reason that man was free in the first place. I won't weep for the rapist or the murderer. So I don't know how it works in different states, but isn't the reason we see such small sentences for these types of crimes is because (A) finding an impartial jury is difficult in these types of cases, which could lead to defense having potentially viable grounds for mistrial, hung jury, appeal, etc & (B) having to potentially drag victims on the stand or in discovery and relive trauma over and over again? And both avenues may not guarantee a conviction, or at least a conviction that sticks. So prosecution just bags and tags these offenders and gets them off the street ASAP.
So if reform is the solution, how do we address the re-victimization that comes with going through the trial process, maintaining impartiality, and overhauling the penal code? --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
