So our poor excuse for a governor Kate Brown (Oregon) put my counties application for stage 1 on hold for another week. All counties in Oregon are also on hold for a week as well.

Meanwhile, the county across the river in Washington is moving to stage 2 tomorrow. I'm frustrated and so over this s***.

And all counties applications on hold for another week. I think I may go sign that recall Kate Brown petition. This s*** is getting old.

Yep and landlords can start to evict people again next month. Unless the politicians extend the ban on it.

That eviction ban only applies to buildings backed by a federal loan or some other caveat like that. Either way it only protected like 30 percent of renters in the states.

That's not surprising. Florida went super YOLO on this.

I do have a bone to pick with the news though. When they are reporting rising cases, they are making no distinction between states that are legitimately handling this horribly and states that have a rise because of increase d testing and have a low positive test percentage.

Chicago, NE region, opening up. If you look at the overall numbers, then this appears justified. The positivity rate is going down. Beds are available, ect. I could carp about which neighborhoods get the testing and where these beds are but this is insignificant to the elder care facility situation.

We are opening up in Illinois because all of these people are out of sight and out of mind and out of the economy. Old people are dying so that we can hang out on the beach. This is the unseen, unheard and unfelt SEGREGATION. We (I) have no idea what we are losing. It is crazy that old people are totally isolated. It is crazy that we have no use and no value for their potential. I can say this but to be honest I do not really know what I am saying because of the foregoing.

3:41 p.m.: Lightfoot to introduce coronavirus tenant protection ordinance
Mayor Lori Lightfoot plans to introduce a package next week designed to give renters whove lost income due to the coronavirus pandemic a measure of protection against evictions, even as some housing advocates hope to strengthen it in the coming days to do more for tenants.
The mayors latest proposal comes a month after progressive aldermen ripped another Lightfoot tenant protection ordinance as inadequate and blocked it, at least temporarily, from getting approved.
The new measure sets rules to follow for people who cant make their rent payments because of the economic upheaval and rash of layoffs due to the coronavirus.
Under the guidelines the Lightfoot administration plans to submit to the City Council Housing Committee on Monday, tenants who inform landlords theyve been financially impacted by the pandemic would get seven days to try to engage in some kind of good faith negotiations to come to a mutually satisfactory agreement for repayment of the unpaid rent.
According to the ordinance, the landlord would have the option to offer to spread out repayment of each months unpaid rent over 60 days, to submit the matter for mediation, to apply the tenants security deposit toward the unpaid amount, to offer to waive all or part of the unpaid rent if the tenant moves out, or to enter into some other agreement with the renter.
In a letter to Housing Committee Chairman Ald. Harry Osterman, 48th, the Chicago Housing Justice League said the mayors plan has some promising language that will benefit renters, but its effectiveness is undermined by a few loopholes and otherwise unenforceable provisions.
In particular, the letter predicted unscrupulous landlords would circumvent the rules by simply terminating month-to-month leases with 30 days notice.

Doesn't matter. Between US, Brazil, Mexico, India, and Russia, we're seeing more than ever. The rest of South America is also starting to get hit hard.

This is all before considering the protests in the countries that were starting to do good like many European countries as well as all around the US.

Also have to consider that Brazil and Russia are suppressing the true numbers.

Daily deaths have increased worldwide.

I didn't make any blanket statements. It went from a set of 5 or 6 countries before and it's now a different set of 5 or 6 countries, with the US involved in both.

Now those other countries from before are involved in mass protesting, probably bringing them back in the picture.

Not much as far as I know. Their President is against lock downs. Still calls it a flu. They still only test people if they have three symptoms. So if they have 2 or less they go untested spreading it to others. Also yesterday their president told supporters to go inside hospitals to film them for proof that they are really struggling with coronavirus.

Yep. US is lucky for all the checks and balances. Probably a different media dynamic helps too. If a US politician said its good so many old people are dying it will help with our pension deficit. They might be forced to apologize. Doesn't seem like Brazil will get better anytime soon with their President still in denial even after 42k deaths.
