Having roughly twice as much granularity allows people to do what they naturally want to do by rounding to 5s.

I also grew up in Minnesota where 0F and 100F were both things I experienced in a given year.

It's fucking freezing balls right now.
I'm sweating my ass off.

It rained so hard the day I left the weather it was dry.

Fahrenheit because 100 is a nice even number for the average temperature outside

Fahrenheit is dumb. Ive lived in the US now for 8 years and I still prefer Celsius. I also miss the metric system in general.

well, he said "outside", not "of the human body", but even in that case, 98 =/= 100
Close enough. We don't need oppressively exact scientific measurements for everyday life.

Because you are quibbling over a trivial <2 degree difference. We are not doing lab work here.

I'll challenge your Kelvin scale with my Rankine scale =D

The only time we're identical is at 0 AKA "Absolute Zero".

The funny thing is that the only time Farenheit & Celsius are equivalent is when they're both at -40.

Literally the only country that uses farenheit is america. Everywhere else uses celcius.

Oh look, americans, you better watch your car windows might freeze in the morning, its gonna be 32F.

Rest of the world, its gonna be 0C, time to put salt on the roads.

Do you americans also measure your gpu and cpu temps in farenheit?

Rope on a tree close to your window.

If its wet, it's raining.

If it's moving, it's windy.

If you can't see it, it's foggy.

If it's on fire, it's way too hot.

If it's stiff, it's way too cold.

If it's gone......thats bad.

If you have that many issues with America being individualist and non-conformist, how are you going to deal with the myriad of Sentient & Sapient Aliens from outter space that use their own system of unit measurements?

You might want to learn that "It's OK to be different".

Not everybody has to conform to your beloved Metric System.

The thing is, someone could very easily make an SI temperature scale that is relevant to the outdoor temperatures that humans actually experience, but they won't for some reason.

Just double the Celsius scale and it's already MUCH better than the standard Celsius scale. In that scale 50 degrees would = 77F, which is nearly a perfect day.

No one gives a shit about the temperature of boiling water. You can tell it's boiling just by looking at it.

No they are not. As a matter of fact, negative temperatures make no fucking conceptual sense and it's why you can't use Celsius in anything related to physics or chemistry.

Which is why Kelvin is used in those applications instead - same scale as Celsius with a different zero point.
