There were parts I liked about it, but overall, it was underwhelming. The voice acting was nice, though. The gameplay is a lot of fun, finding a middle ground between the first one being totally open-ended and the second being mission based. The co-op is FANTASTIC. The animation is absolutely beautiful and the game overall is dropping with personality and charm. It looks and feels like a CGI Luigi cartoon. The online multiplayer is a lot of fun, and offers a decent amount of replay value outside of the main story. There's a shit ton to do in the story if you like collectibles, but they're also totally optional if you want to blow through it. It has some jank here and there, and it's hard to say if each floor being its own mini-area is better than one cohesive setting. The bosses weren't always the smoothest. For one thing people lap a lot of praise on the 'one big mansion' aspect in comparison to the several mansions in 2, but it's a dishonest argument. The mansion in 1 isn't really THAT big and the game is still VERY linear. I had some other arguments but it's been a while since I've played either now so my memory has faded.
