It's about as modern as it can be without being a proper VoIP system, and it still runs off of standard telephone lines. We have all the normal stuff like extensions and intercoms and individual voicemails, but lately it's been extra glitchy. If it bugs out and does a hard system reset, we lose the ability to dial out of our area code (which is a big problem, because we do a lot of interstate business over the phone).

I'm gonna file a ticket with IT, but I doubt they'll do anything other than fix the problem. Lord knows corporate doesn't want to spend the money to rewire the place for VoIP, even though it'd be far more reliable.
