A coworker and good friend of mine :/

She's super extroverted and was going stir crazy for pretty much the entire lockdown. She's originally from Florida and as soon as she heard they were reopening the beaches she went home to visit family and hit the sand. That was two weeks ago.

Worst part? She's like a worst possible case for dying from this. Pre-existing heart condition, smoker, obese. I'm expecting to hear from her family that she passed in the near future. This sucks.

She was going out to bars here in town right up to the day they closed them despite our campus having closed weeks earlier. I tried to get her to understand how dangerous this is for someone like her and her response was basically YOLO

Even with preexisting conditions like that, it's not a guarantee that she's going to suffer negative outcomes. Still a good chance she'll pull through.

I appreciate the sentiment, folks. Its just kinda distressing. Everyone else I know locked down hard as soon as we got the shelter in place notice. Hell, I think we all still are. I've barely left my apartment since the beginning of March because I take care of too many sick relatives to risk being a carrier. I read something about they might have effective drug treatments on the way soon. Here's hoping

Sone people you jist can't talk sense into. But that doesn't mean they deserve this. Hope she comes out it as healthy as she is now.
