The line was pretty long and she was near the entrance but around the corner. Her sign said something like lost my job cuz corona blah blah need money for food etc etc god bless. Not 25 feet from where she was standing, staring at us all in line, there was a three foot sign saying NOW HIRING.

She didnt. Its a lot easier to guilt people into buying your groceries than work a shift as an essential employee.

Lol ok. How about the fact that I was going to give her a few bucks but she was gone in the 15 minutes I was in the store. Guess she hit her quota for the day.

My local Walmart starts to get entrance lines after 11am most days

That seems entirely unrelated to the issue. You're saying she has to stay there all day for some reason? You don't know how long she was already there. Unless she showed up after you did which I very highly doubt.

i'm always skeptical of the homeless signs. like if she lost her job what happened to her unemployment. and those "us army vet" signs. i can't tell if he really served or not. i can go pick up a cardboard box right now and write us army vet on it and nobody would know.

i got nothing against the homeless btw i just wished i could tell which ones were honest and which are scams. you always read about these scumbag pregnant women using their unborn baby as a crutch and then they get caught revving off in a lambo they were hiding in the alleyway.

depends on what you call a scam. If theyre actual homeless people its being spent on narcotics and alcohol. None of them want food, food is actually readily available and they all have SNAP.

It's easier to get a job at my factory than it is at Walmart, and Walmart pays way less. Jesus Christ, a pre-test? My place of work asked for 3 references and I only had one and they hired me, and that and some general information was the extent of my "test".

I know there are legit people who became homeless by circumstances out of there control but at the same time I haven't met one that gave me a good vibe. I kind of agree with what he's saying just based out of my own experiences. Tried to give away some of my girlfriends muffins at stop lights that were 1 day old since I don't like banana nut and some of the responses I got were "nah man i'm looking for straight cash homie!" or "you got any cigarettes on ya?" and "i'm just trying to get fucked up tonight!" so i figured a couple of things, it's not worth the hassle, especially considering vegas cops have been known to arrest people for handing out food to homeless and anyone who is truly trying to get help is at the homeless shelter we got in town where they are being taken care of. so i kinda stopped caring. i do work with animals instead. i find them to be much more trustworthy and grateful.

I said how you define scamming not that I think it is. Some people do think it is scamming. And something like half of the homeless if not more already suffer from drug addiction when the number used to be a quarter of them. I work a lot with the homeless and getting the resources. Its the harsh truth bud. The issue too is that drugs falls under mental illness so its hard to get true stats sometimes

we still have one in my town at safeway though i wouldn't know how bad it gets in the afternoon or night i never have to wait to get into the store.

tourists are supposedly welcome to show up after tuesday (good and bad).
good for business. bad for overall health. they'll be coming from counties still having problems with covid.

If she really did lose her job then she should be on unemployment. Nearly everyone I know who lost their jobs are already approved and have gotten money.

unfortunately we wouldn't know her actual circumstances. she could of worked before covid but not enough to draw on the assistance (some states are making it impossible to try to get any help).
have to work X amount of time to get benefits.
