It's true. The earliest suspected time tracker is a bone with 28 notches on it. And who needs to keep track of something every 28 days? That's right, women. Men have no need to track something for 28 days.

As we all know, periods always occur every 28 days without fail, barring pregnancy. There's nothing else that occurs every 28 days like clockwork. Certainly not the lunar cycle. Therefore women invented calendars. Suck it, misogynists.

As always reddit has all the answers. Just don't read the comments which are full of misogynistic revisionists.

It's not my fault you never learned about the Lebombo bone in school. Typical American school system.

Ah, yes. No wonder there's no mention of it in calender history.

"However, the bone is clearly broken at one end, so the 29 notches may or may not be the total number. In the cases of other notched bones since found globally, there has been no consistent notch tally, many being in the 110 range."

Your whole premise is conjecture and highly theoretical. It could be a prisoner counting days.

Moving on.

Edit: It's a gorilla bone. Not even a human bone.

I have no idea why my autofill misspells calendar constantly. I don't save typos to the user dictionary. Definitely a coding issue.

Also, attacking a typo is definitely a sign of "internet mad".

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're having an off day. Say my name out loud and reread the topic.

How would that even work as a tracker of the number of days passed? It would work for the first 28 days, sure. But after that, what do you use to mark the number of subsequent days, if you're not making any more notches?

Another bone obviously. Just like how current calendars have month separations!

I'd have more confidence in that interpretation if they'd found at least a second bone to corroborate it.

Or, er, am I taking this too seriously?

Yes, making jokes on a message board is taking things much more seriously than taking the message board seriously.

You sarcastically stating that women deserve credit isn't so much a joke but much more simply sexism.
