It's the "well, let's just have the computer cheat" variation of video game gambling. There are moments where you see their dice land, stop for a few seconds, and then completely flip over. In a game where you make the best poker hand out of 5D6 and I had four games in a row where the NPC rolled a six-high straight.

The true ass chapping is that I'd already beaten this NPC after two matches, but I had to reload a save because I accidentally replaced my good weapon with a crappy vendor one.
