It all looks like it hurts.

Every successfully landed strike warrants a reaction and a worthy participant in a fight can normally take five to ten hits before they're done in. On paper, that might sound like shorter or less impressive fight scenes. But it gives gravity to what it means to strike an opponent full force with intent to subdue them.

It also means there isn't any unnecessary fluff or filler. You never see somebody ignore six wimpy punches to take his opponent down with a single dramatic kick. Every punch and every kick looks like it counts for something.

I don't know if he influenced Bloodsport or if Bloodsport influenced him, but it set a precedent which most of his subsequent films would follow.
