I don't think he was shouting at a random stranger. He seems to be a regular there because the employee (or whoever responded to him) greeted him in a way that indicates she recognized him. He likely felt comfortable talking to them.

I work in a pharmacy and hell no do you approach whackjobs like this, let alone try to throw them out. Who knows what shit is bubbling out of his face, and who cares. You just hope he leaves fast and you don't have to call the cops and fill out a bunch of paperwork for nothing to happen and the chance of him being violent next time to increase.

That whole video is baffling. Dude sounds crazy as shit but then he switches into "polite" mode and that black lady behind him is even nice to him after he dropped like 20 N bombs before she showed up. I can't even comprehend everything I just watched.

He's definitely mentally ill. Not just the way he's talking, but the way he's moving his arms at the endl. He also constantly adjusts his mask, which means either he's stressed out and needs something for his hands to do, or he's constantly aware of its presence and trying to make it comfortable. There are a lot of telling signs that he needs help. It's also possible that he does have legitimate delusions and actually believes he's a marine.

Besides all of that, he is being SUPER fucking racist in his rant (which he might not have much control over), and stores should do something about guys like that. It does kind of look like they're waiting in line and this guy is at the back and having a little trouble waiting (why he'd be sitting in a store scratching a lotto ticket). Plus, there's that part where the cameraman walks 6 ft forward, then stops.

True, though I think the point is the older man is not really representative of most people, let alone Walgreens, and it looks like hes lost his mind, as the saying goes.

I sympathize with the younger mans frustration and Walgreens should have resolved the situation better.

Edit: probably shouldnt have said older or younger because Im not really sure what their ages are, just didnt want to say white or Latino (?) and Asian.

And there's legal and company policies.
Loss prevention in retail stores also have limited power in what they can pursue.

And were talking about people with like min wage Walgreens jobs here. They have everything to lose by attempting to intervene.

I mainly feel bad for the recorder because of his mom, but looking at the guy, there's more to his issue than just singling out his racism.

Seems like he's just stressed out that his sister died. It's unlikely he'd have made it into the Marines if he had a condition that made him like that all the time.

I've worked in plenty of retail places. If I ever noticed someone being very inappropriate like this I told them to get out.

Not every establishment is the same, though. There are places Ive worked that would back the employee up and praise them for their actions. Then there are quite a few that would rather fire you for engaging negatively with a customer, especially if you arent protected in some way. We like to think it would be clear how we should act as employees, but businesses dont always operate like that.
