It's made of metal. You know, the stuff edgy music is made out of. It's basically a filing cabinet.

I have a can opener, a soldering iron, and a tube of Arctic silver. If the can opener and solder won't work I'll need to buy something. Oh also I have wire cutters and I could probably borrow a hammer.

I want to cut a rectangular hole to install a recessed power strip lol.

How thick is it? Like, could you pierce it with a puncture tool+hammer, or would that just cause it to dent in?

$7? Harbor Freight? Seriously?

Damn, whenever convention season can restart, I need to indulge myself. I have an ambitious first self-made cosplay idea, and it starts with battle-damaging a motorcycle helmet.

However thick a filing cabinet is. So maybe like 1/8"? It actually has a filing cabinet built in. I would guess you could pierce it if you did it right but not too sure.

Oh I'm sure it's no high-quality tool but I really only need it to do this one thing so durability is no big deal.

that'll work. maybe get some form of grinding wheel to go with it since you'll end up with wicked sharp edges.

Shit. Yeah. Hadn't thought of deburring. Grind it smooth or you're going to be in for an unpleasant surprise.

I'm gonna actually slide the strip down into the hole and the face should cover all the edges, so do you think I could get by without?

Here's the strip so you can get a better idea:

sure, if you're careful. problem is if you get a burr that gets in the way it might not want to sit flush. and if you ever need to pull the plug in the future you might end up cutting yourself.
