I watched the gameplay footage of Ghost of Tsushima and I do think it looks good, but it also looks like most other open world games I've played lately. Seems to have the same setup. You get a horse or some sort of mount, travel the world grabbing crafting materials along the way, encountering camps and eliminating them one by one. I'm definitely feeling open world fatigue.

Its really easy to avoid open world games tho.

ive played dozens of games from the past year or so and I cant think of many, if any that were that generic open world setup

its really not that big of a problem

I only wasted time on Skyrim and FO4 but it wasn't wasted time but not of high value

After playing Dead Rising 3 I kinda wish there were more open world games with confined maps. I like a smaller map that still allows free roam

As far as I remember, Ghost of Tsushima will be the first open world game I play since FF15. I won't be worn down by them here, but there's a reason I've been avoiding them.

It's not a problem in that you can avoid them, it's an annoyance when franchises you enjoy jump on the fad and now the game isnt fun for me anymore.

No game has been made better by adding open world. Give me corridors anyday.

Okay but how many recent examples of this are there?

i really cant think of many. It was disappointing in breath of the wild for sure. But its mainly just Ubisoft games that follow this formula

Mgs5 is worse because of it. Ffxv would have benefited from tightening up the plot. Dw9 is trash. Most arcade racers have gone open world and only fh3 did it well.

Same here, though I understand why some don't like them.

Sometimes I just like to look at the world and walk around.

my big issue with open world games is that most have too many "systems" in them. like i am playing AC Odyssey now and it is a cool game, but there is like a million mechanics and things to consider. more games should be like BotW, less is more

I dont mind the open world ones, I just wish devs would do a little better on object placement on the map, or at least try to make it look more organic than just plopped down.

Some me of these worlds are too arcadey and thats fine, but I want to be drawn in.

In a lot of open world games I feel the need to put on a podcast while I'm traversing. My mark for a good open world is one that keeps me engaged and makes exploration worth it.

yeah i kinda miss some shooter campaigns but i'm playing just cause 2 right now and while it's lacking in a few areas, it's fun, it's like mgsv with the openness of gta and spiderman web 'swinging', just shoot and blow shit up and i like the jungle/tropical island setting, though i kinda wish you get do something else than shoot/race
