I've been looking for something good on steam since I beat huniepop but I haven't found anything but this looks okay

I love it a lot personally.

It's a pretty casual game, only one level ever really gave me grief and even that one I passed on the first try. But it's addicting as hell.

There's a minor flaw or two that kind of bug me, like how Cafes are the devil's spawn and are harmful to the hospital when they should be a fun thing or how so many levels rely on a really cheap climate control mechanic where you have to put down radiators (for cold levels) or AC (for hot levels) that doesn't really change much.

Would love to answer any questions you have about it though

just picked it up and i'm having a good time with it. i also got into a Theme Hospital kick a while back so this is exactly what i needed considering it's basically the exact same thing but better.

Is it worth buying all the dlc?

Really depends on what you're looking for/how much you like the game, but I would definitely not buy them at full price.

Each one adds three hospitals. Usually there's at least a couple new visual illnesses and treatment room per hospital, *but* all new illnesses/treatment rooms are self-contained in each DLC, meaning you never see Monster Mish-Mash (Bigfoot DLC) in the base game or other DLC.

They also add new decorative items (many are unlocked by default, some you unlock by gaining stars or spending K). You *can* use the decorative items throughout the rest of the game, so there's at least some benefit there.

Originally the DLC did have brand new mechanics that weren't in the base game (such as forcing you to complete challenges to unlock new plots, wave/horde-mode levels, etc.), but with the two free REMIX updates those are almost all in the base game. The REMIX levels *are* shorter though, since you're only going for one star and you can usually finish them without even using up most of the hospital space.

Off the top of my head the only mechanics that aren't in the REMIX levels now are hunting aliens (in the Close Encounters DLC - there are aliens disguised as patients, they clog up your queues and don't pay for anything and you're supposed to kick them out of the hospital when you see them) unlocking and managing power generating dams, turbines, solar panels (in the Off the Grid DLC - the shtick is that it takes energy to transport new staff applicants, transport patients, and keep rooms open, so you have to spend money to buy plots of land that have these buildings on them) and keeping natural disasters under control (in the Close Encounters DLC - each plot of land you unlock also unlocks a machine preventing a natural disaster from striking; if it goes down, the natural disaster hits and it can cause a pretty nasty and damaging chain reaction of events). Very possible I'm missing something but I think that's about it.

And usually the unique mechanics don't really add any challenge, except for the natural disasters one that one almost wrecked me because I was dumb.

You can do this with Gold Star Awards and I'm pretty sure the game lowkey encourages it - if you look at the training slideshow you'll see a picture of a staff member with a million of them on the wall.
