So your regular meal now costs $10 extra than it should do.

So $10 less tip? Or do you just give your usual tip in addition to the $10?

I would not go to a restaurant that increased a meal by $10

I stop going there entirely or start ordering something else.

No, because the menu prices changing have nothing to do with the server. Why should the server make less money as a result of the menu items costing more? They still make their $2.25 or whatever hourly and rely on tips.

But as stated above, i'd likely not eat there at all if it was a drastic change in price. I just wouldn't take it out on the server.

I stop going there. Theres a really good poke bowl place I used to order from. A bowl was $11. Then they jacked it to $14.50. Since I order 2 and with taxes, etc, it just wasnt worth it anymore so I stopped ordering from them.

McDonald's used to have Bacon McDoubles for $2 for the longest time. Then one day I couldn't find it on the value menu anymore. It ended up being changed to regular McDouble without bacon 2.29 and adding bacon was either 50 cents extra or 75 cents extra. As a result, I stopped going there even though it is not even a mile from my house. Had it been a bacon McDouble for 2.29, I would've still been willing to buy it, but not 2.29 and no bacon.

why should they make more if the price goes up? (tipping is based on percents)

When prices go up, in theory the restaurant gains more profit so it should have more funds to raise the employee wage.

Yes

My haircuts used to be $20, I'd give him $30 and that's a $10 tip.

Prices got raised to $25 and I give him $30 and that's a $5 tip.

yes but why do they deserve more? also profits don't go up if costs also went up an equivalent amount, and yes the server makes more with fixed percent
