Out of these places. Description below.

You arrive in Skyrim (any race you want) with 1,000 gold and a fully furnished home wherever you choose to live. You have maxed abilities in any class, and gear.

The timeframe is after the Dragonborn completed main story, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn quests.

The civil war is over (whoever you choose to win).

All guild quests were completed by different heroes.

Where do you live? You must live here for at least a year before traveling outside the city or moving.

Falkreath, which is where my DLC house is currently located.

Whiterun would probably be my second choice.

Since this is after the main storyline, they're in Dawnstar now. (spoilers?).

Solitude. Being the capital, it seems the nicer place. Also, for a capital city, it seems to have an extraordinarily low population.

Solitude or Whiterun if i had to pick one of those cities.

Normally i just stayed in the house i built. The one near Falkreath.

the Hearthfire home's layout is so fucking stupid though. i could never stand being in one or having anything to do with it beyond what was necessary for trophies/achievements.
How so?

I mean i was never really in the houses that much. Just would go drop off shit and get the store gold from the spouse.

Then never see the family again lol

I don't want to live in a frozen wasteland so the only choice is Riften.

Falkreath is barely a town.
Solitude is a bunch of whiny imperialists.
Markarth is full of dwarven machines that want to murder you.

Riften is home to the Blackbriars, some of the best businesspeople in the world and we all know that business acumen translates to leadership potential.

Falkreath, generally. Anywhere that saves me time [fast travel, walk to my house, throw my loot in storage, exit, fast travel again] is high on the list. The Hearthfire DLC can be a little disappointing, but in terms of just getting in and out, they're pretty decent. If wasted time wasn't an issue, I'd probably live in Solitude or Riften most of the time.

Id live in Breezehome in Whiterun because its so cozy. Id be a Bannered Mare regular, and be a maxed out Nord warrior. Id make a living chopping wood for the shop or maybe guard duty. Then at night trying to be a bard at the tavern. Id drink a lot and try to bang all the broads in Whiterun. Once the year is over Id go over to Riverwood for a bit, working for the sawmill.
