A friend just invited me yesterday to go a cook out today and while it sounds nice, I don't know how many people he invited or if we have to wear mask. So should I go?

No. You should probably stay home.

Depends where you live I guess. You could always ask how many people there will be, but either way just do whatever makes you feel comfortable. That's ultimately what matters, if you go and are worried the entire time then what's the point?

If you're outside and it's just a few people it's no big deal.

I'm going over to my buddies place later on tonight for a fire in his backyard.

Well I just call, and he said a few people mostly 4 to ten.

I personally wouldn't go. I'm taking this shit serious for my family. Im around my sister and nieces all the time. So, just think about the people you hang out with regularly. Cause you're potentially taking them with you if you slip up.

I mean it doesn't sound like a big get together, and if it's in a backyard and you live in an area that isn't doing too badly, you should be fine. But as I said, do what makes you feel comfortable. You aren't obligated to go, and if you are going to be nervous the entire time then just stay home.

Nobody can really answer this without knowing a really specific location. You could live in the suburbs of New York or you could live in a rural town where there have been no reported cases for 50 miles in any direction.

Well turn out I'm glad I didn't go since there was more than ten people and most came from a different cook out.

Cook-outs in particular are a no-go right now, man. Ideally, a cook-out has laughter, beer and food, right? Laughter pushes droplets farther; beer makes people a little more relaxed in attitude and behavior; and food being shared communally and left open will make it more likely to receive droplets. And if it's a "we'll stay ten feet apart and bring our own picnics" thing, well, that's not a cook-out.

Beanbags and horseshoes? Probably also not great to be touching in succession. Kids couldn't run and play. Like, I get missing people and feeling like a small gathering in a rural area could be good (I'm in the same boat), but it's just not worth it. Going isn't worth the risk --- not only will you open yourself up for exposure, but going means having such an abnormal time that won't be anything like what you're hoping to regain the fun and comfort of.

EDIT: Yo, I'm super late to the party (lel), sorry. I left the tab open and forgot it was from so long ago. You did the right thing, TC.
