Making a new topic since people are coming in thinking that she's actually my roommate's fuck buddy. Here's the copy/pasted story:

Wow I could not have been more wrong if I tried LOL

Apparently, by saying that she was bringing someone new home, she actually meant that she was bringing a 17 year old runaway

I cant make this up. But apparently the girl had been in and out of the grocery store at least 15 times before my roomie noticed (she works there) and asked her if she was okay. The girl said that she had run away from home earlier that morning and didnt really know where to go, so she was coming in and out of the store several times for wifi, bathroom, etc

I hadnt left the house yet when they got home, so Ive been talking with her since and.. wow. She has very obvious choke marks on her throat, as well as cuts caused by fingernails diggings into and piercing her skin. I took photos so that she has proof in the case that police get involved

We have an air mattress, so shes staying here for at least one night. According to WA laws, we wouldnt get in trouble for harboring a minor. I dont think thisll be permanent, but I also dont know what were gonna do with her

Hearing her talk about her family gave me chills. Its so similar to my story, except she had the courage to run away. I feel weirdly protective of her. I dont want her to go back but I also know that she cant stay forever

wow what a night

I made the topic before I knew that it was actually a runaway girl. My roommate had called me and said that she was bringing a girl home, and if I would be there by the time she arrived. I assumed it was a fuck buddy, because she refused to get into details over the phone

She needs to have control over her own life for once. I won't be calling the police

I used to be in a very similar situation, and I would not have wanted someone else to call the police. That's a guaranteed way to make things worse. And before you say anything, this girl did call the police a few months ago after nearly being choked and beaten to death. When the police got there, the parents had the siblings corroborate the story that the girl was a compulsive liar and did that to herself for attention. The police believed it and nothing happened

So yeah, I'm not doing shit. If the police get involved, I'll cooperate. But I won't blow the whistle for her if she doesn't want me to

Probably not. Cops rarely get involved in cases like these. Unless there's proof that she's in immediate harm, likely nothing will happen

Luckily I'm neither of those

She has a history of running away (when she was a few years younger), and has been flagged as the rebellious adopted kid who'll lie for attention. I won't be calling CPS. It's backfired for her badly before

It's backfired for me too. When I was around her age, I called the police because I thought my dad was going to kill me. He had pinned me against a wall and choked me it felt like my airways would collapse.. then he proceeded to beat me like a ragdoll. I was literally bloody and bruised and the police did nothing because I was made out to be crazy. My dad was so angry... and he made sure to let me know with his fists. I have nightmares from that night still :(

Cps would most definately start to make regular visits if they see the marks tc described. And if the parents slip up on their fake story even once, she's out of there

And cps and police are two separate things. They're just connected in many cases

I know.

Tomorrow morning I'll be talking with her and making sure that she has somewhere safe to go, and go over her options. The most likely scenario right now is that her bf's mom will pick her up and they'll open up a case together. The poor girl is frazzled and traumatized, and if she wants one night of peace she can have it. The last few weeks especially have been hell for her

You (or whoever) calling immediately so cps can start a file will in no way impact her from having a night of peace. They aren't gonna drive over or want to speak with her on the phone right away.

Update

Okay so apparently her bfs mom actually happens to be a social worker, which I think is a good thing? However, if she were to go to that house, the mom would have to alert the authorities obviously. While she would most likely not be taken back home apparently, she would be put into foster care

This girl has been in and out of the system for about half her life. Shes extremely traumatized by the experience, being that she was raped once and repeatedly molested in one when she was 11 or so

Now Im confused and frustrated. I want to help this girl, but I know she cant stay forever. Since my apartment is low income and subsidized by the govt, they have very very very strict restrictions on the amount of people allowed to be sleeping over. If they find out shes sleeping here, we could get evicted

On Monday, both my roomie and I will have to be out of the house.. which leaves her alone. As much as I trust her to be genuine, leaving her alone in the house is something Im not comfortable with. We talked a lot today, and tomorrow well be going more in depth over her options. Like if she has any friends, if she would be forced into a home or not, can she get assistance from a battered womens organization, etc
