Glad I didn't because I definitely would have been a neet alcoholic by the time Januaray hit. Thnakfully ogt a job in Feburary though

Being on unemployment here in Ireland has a condition where you're suppoesd to actually look for work to keep getting it

One of the things we tried to hammer in is that looking for a job while unemployed is your fucking job from now on until you get one.
The "having dignity" argument only applies to lazy people who slack off. You're jobless? Look for a job. Be serious about it. Don't fucking go on a job hunting site 5 minutes every day and say "huh well nothing there oh well time for TV!"

We have lifers, multiple generations who never plan to work and the government just accepts it but it's a vey low amount and in the defense of the government it would cost more to actually bother with them than to pay them

The stigma against collecting unemployment is mind-boggling to me. It's insurance that you pay into. Would you object to accepting auto insurance money for a car accident or health insurance money for a medical bill?

It's 203 a week whereas fulltime (35 hours a week) is 353 euro so I mean it's barely gonna sustain you

I'm 34 and have more or less been working since I was 14 years old, so I've been paying into it for nearly 20 years.
