if you cant kill enemies in a room then you definitely cant deal with invasions. All thats gonna happen is its gonna make the easy mode go offline and they wont be able to get community help and get stuck on bosses.

It punishes greed, so a lot of players who rush in and spam r1 will not be rewarded. That's why they call it hard.

Delevel enemies in a room based on deaths.

dark souls 2 permanently despawns enemies if you've killed them 12 or so times.

this has the added benefit of making it trickier for invaders to figure out where you are. and if you get one that does nothing but swing, run 40 feet away and then spin in circles, you can walk to the boss fog.

At least one DS II invader is clueless: Holy Knight Aurheim in the Ivory King DLC. It disguises itself as a barrel. I smashed all barrels for an instant banish (no announcement, though).

For whatever reason, he was gone.

There's another weird invader, Maldron the Assassin (also in the Ivory King DLC). Standing in plain view, he *thinks* he's disguised as a no aggro white phantom, but he is NOT!

I 2H equipped a large club and, F2F, *pancake (lol, ik) slammed* him. I backed off, but he just stood-up; no aggro. After a few more slams, it dawned on him, "IB-discovered!" and he ran away. His shtick in IK DLC is to get close enough to backstab you unaware; failing that, once his big health bar is <50% he runs away and/or heals, rinse and repeat. In true DS fashion he showed-up again, at full health, after I entered the nearby cave with an Albino Covetous Demon. So, I lured this relentless, yet mindless, turd into the path of the *fast and very resilient* ACD and let it smoosh him to death as they both tried to cozy-up to me. :D OFC, I still had to deal with the ACD after, but it was fun to watch.

DS2 did spirits the best. All the invaders and summonable help had interesting AI, and unique quirks or actions. Felt more alive.
