They do, but it's different if they can play it up for sympathy instead of accepting a positive.

Women have more privileges overall then men do. Society goes out of its way to protect and care for women, it does no such thing for men. You can broadly see this with tax expenditures, as a gender women are net recipients of tax benefits whereas men are net payers. So the average woman over the course of her life can expect to receive more benefits from government than she will pay in taxes, for men it is the exact opposite.

Another example:

A woman doesn't want her child: terminate the pregnancy or give the child up for adoption, no questions asked no consequences.

A man doesn't want his child: he has no say and if the woman wants to keep the child he is an indentured servant for 18 years.

Women are not held responsible for their reproductive decisions, men are. Pretty big privilege right there.

Idk, it is nuanced. But they have privileges men don't, and vice versa. Whether I would prefer to be a woman over the man I am is debatable, though. I think men have it better in some areas, worse in others. I, for one, am glad I do not have periods or menopause and have to carry the baby in me for 9 months.

Show emotion without ridicule. Everybody goes to help the cry woman

Men only say this cause their circle sucks. Which, women also have circles that aren't helpful as well. I've had 3-4 hour long conversations with my boy so he could vent after his mom died last year. I do know guys that would find the exit immediately, but you only need a few close friends to play the support roles. It's dumb to act like they're not all over the place. It's insulting to men in general tbh.

I was thinking like in public.

Men crying are general seen as weak losers. Both by other men and women

Oh. That's more fair. But still, only to a certain type of men and women. You realize you can write them off just as easy as they write you off tho right?

To add, I think 90% of issues men face are caused by other men. Toxic masculinity is the cause for lots of the emotional and social problems men face and yet the same men who cry about mens issues are the ones who deny toxic masculinity.

Im not saying that those issues shouldnt be taken seriously - its often the men complaining about it who would rather just shift blame to women.

So you don't believe that when a boy falls and scrapes his knee, his mother ever says "you're a boy, stop crying"?

The issue is that while men have more privileges, they apply to a lower share of men, while the lower amount of women privileges apply to a greater portion of women.

So do 51% of women have more or less privileges than 51% of men?

Not only did I not say that, I didnt even imply it. Though Id reckon the father would be much more likely to say that in the given situation.

I definitely disagree that mens issues are mainly facilitated by other men.

Especially with the amount of single mothers out there, thats just silly. Everyone contributes to their issues.

i think it's oversimplifying to just say men do it to themselves--most men reinforcing toxic masculinity in the lives of men they care about are doing it out of a twisted sense of what they think is best for them in terms of appealing to women

and a lot of the time they're not wrong about the impact of toxic masculinity on attracting women, though they likely are wrong about whether that priority should be surpassing emotional well-being.

women are part of the patriarchy too, and calls for men to be better ring hollow if we do not also call for one another to be better, both to other women, and to men.

when we reward men for needless risk taking, for conspicuous consumption, for using violence against other men, or for embracing stoicism over healthy expression, women contribute to toxic masculinity.

Eh, I wouldn't compare them. The fact alone that women have inherent value as opposed to men's value only coming from what he can contribute to society sets their trajectories vastly different from what is expected of them and how society treats them.
